Karubiotec collections for research
These biological collections (biocollections) are declared to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and are linked to priority themes in our Caribbean region. There are 2 collection circuits:
- Prospective:
The patient/donor is informed by the doctor who sees him/her as part of his/her diagnostic care of the possibility of giving additional tubes for research. If the patient/donor agrees, he or she can then give consent.
- Retrospective:
The patient's non-objection is requested for the use of leftover diagnostic samples for research.
The samples sent to Karubiotec are anonymized, processed and then stored to be made available to research teams working on public health diseases such as those encountered in Guadeloupe.
Karubiotec thus contributes to the development of research in Guadeloupe and the Caribbean.
